GF086 - BRASS DIAL MAHOGANY MOONPHASE BY W BELL OF SUNDERLAND C1771



A fine quality Mahogany 8-day Longcase clock with moon in the arch.
The case with gilded corinthian capitals on the trunk and hood and reeded mahogany pillars.

The 4 pillar movement with brass dial having a silvered and painted moon-phase in the arch.
The maker William Bell is listed as working in Sunderland 1771-1773, but also Hexham and Newcastle.

Striking on a bell, having a date wheel and seconds hand.
Last sold by Good Hope Antiques in Beaminster, Dorset.
A superb looking clock and in good working order, however the moon mechanism has been removed at some time, but I have had an opinion and estimate for restoring this to working order if required.
