GM012 - SMALL MAHOGANY GRANDMOTHER / LONGCASE CLOCK LATE C20

A very high quality small longcase clock, possibly by F Elliott &Co, with a traditional 2 train weight driven longcase movement with 2 heavy brass weights.
I would date the clock to about 1970.
The heavy brass dial is inscribed Sargeant + Son, Weymouth, and 'Tempus Fugit' in the arch.
The clock has a long tubular gong within the case, with the hours being struck by a hammer with a deep tone. The clock runs for 8 days on a single wind.
The case is of solid mahogany, of traditional style with a removable arched hood with glazed door, reeded columns with gilded brass Corinthian capitals, and long door to the trunk with a lock and key.

Overall height 68" -( 5'8" ) and 14" at its widest point.
A very attractive quality clock small enough to fit into any home.
