GF096 - BLACK LAQUER CHINOISSERIE - WILMSHURST OF ODIHAM (HANTS) EARLY 10" SINGLE HAND LONGCASE.




Stephen Wilmshurst was receorded as working in Odiham, Hampshire in 1752, and moved to Reading in 1755.
Other Wilmshursts were working in Basigstoke, Hants in the early 1700's, probably the same family.
This early longcase clock has a small 10" dial in good condition. A birdcage 30 hour movement and single steel hand with quarter hour markers on the dial, striking the hours on a large bell.

It is housed in an associated black laquered case with Oriental chinoisserie decoration thoughout
The clock and case are presented in good restored condition throughout, and in good working order.

It is rare to find a laquered case in this condition, and a very attractive clock of modest proportions ready to display in your home.
