GF109 - WILLIAM SLADE TAUNTON 8 DAY LONGCASE CLOCK
An attractive and original 8 Day long case clock in typical West Country style in an ornate mahogany case with stringing and inlays, and having a 'wavy edge' door to the hood.
The movement has been cleaned and serviced, and keeps good time, striking the hours on a bell.
The painted 13" dial features a country cottage scene in the arch, and geometric and floral designs in the corners.
The clock dates from about 1830. I have seen one other example of Slades work which was a fusee wall clock.
A very nice clock, all original to the case, with iron weights and pendulum, and with scope to further restore if the owner wished to in the form of cleaning of the dial, or refinishing the case.
