Superb brass arched dial long case clock with strike silent in the arch.
8-day clock in an oak case 84" high and 18" wide.
Edward Allen is listed in. Loomes, but the exact location of Oare is uncertain as there are two possibilities, but no other clocks recorded.
For a village maker this is a very high quality clock with the rear strike/silent mechanism, and brass weights and elaborate engraved dial. I would conclude that he had a London apprenticeship.
Some restoration had been carried out on the clock including silvering on the dial, and servicing of the movement.
Original brass pendulum and brass weights, lock and key to case, original winding key.
